Rotherham Town Centre

Regeneration town centre and newly built Tesco superstore

TCN are preferred developers in partnership with Rotherham Metropolitan Borough Council for the regeneration of Rotherham Town Centre.

This project consists of 9 sites covering over 10.5 acres of the town centre. The regeneration will be kickstarted by the Council moving to new offices, facilitating the development of a 110,000 sq ft (appr. 10,000 sqm) retail store in the town centre.

History

In 2007, TCN were appointed by Rotherham Metropolitan Borough Council (RMBC) as developers and entered on exclusivity agreement on the council-owned sites covering over 10.5 acres of the town centre.

Mid 2012, TCN UK received full planning permission for the development of a new retail superstore in the town centre. A development agreement with Rotherham Borough Council was signed by TCN UK in 2011 for the regeneration of Rotherham Town Centre, following which a new lease was agreed with Tesco Superstore as an anchor to the plans, subject to satisfactory planning being granted.

Future

The unanimous decision at the planning meeting mid 2012 allows drawdown of the 5 acre site from the Council later 2012 with a planned construction commencement date of October 2012. Completion and occupation by Tesco’s is planned for December 2013.
